End of year projects

We have been so busy the last two weeks (sorry I forgot to blog last week!) !  Some classes have done hula hoop dancing (with a few mishaps!), ribbon dancing, and emotional picto-graphs to music.  Grades 6 and 7 completed a mini workshop about Fiddler On The Roof.  We viewed some final Composer computer projects  (AWESOME JOB!!!!!!!!!!), and did some final vocab review crossword puzzles!  Some grades have experimented/played the piano, and 7th graders did a STEM music project "graphing" written music as a "melody" line graph, and a pitch "EKG" graph.  We even threw in some freeze dance!

ONE MORE WEEK TO GO!

HAPPY JUNE!

Love,

Mrs. Warga

Busy in May

We have been so busy!

Primary grades have been drawing graphic emotional responses to music such as Celtic Women's "Orinoco Flow", Aaron Copeland's "Rodeo" , "Call of the Champions" Olympic March, and a Romanian dance called the Frunza.  They have been so intuitive and creative!

Today grades K and 1 did ribbon dancing on the stage. They looked professional!

Grades 3-8 learned about James Gaway and listened to him play "Flight of the Bumble bee" on flute. We learned about bagpipes on our visit to Scotland, and listened to Amazing Grace and a Scottish rock band which uses bagpipes!  We have been working on assignments which review sign language, musical terms, and composers!

Grades 6 and 7 began a mini workshop on Fiddler on the Roof since they danced the Wedding Dance in the concert so beautifully!

Grade 8 began presenting some of their computer projects and we did the silly cup game! Great job!

HOMEWORK:

Grades 3,4 and 5: String Family Word Search

Grades 6 and 7 : Composers Word search. BOTH!!!!

See you at mass on Friday.

Peace,

Mrs. Warga

BACK TO CLASSES!

It was nice to have a break from rehearsing today!

Grades K and 1 sung about Spring! "I see Daisies" [Boy, you guys know a lot of flowers!], "I'm a Little Chicken", and "May is Here".

Primary grades sang "Maybe May" {a rhyming tongue twister!}  GOOD JOB! And Chick, Chick, Chicken !

All grades reviewed our songs for the May Crowning on Friday.

Grades3-5 began our studies on James Galway and his flute, and the Bagpipes! (We used our passports to stop in Ireland and Scotland) Grades 6-8 will begin next week.

Grades 6 and 7, you did an excellent job with freeze dance!

Grade 5-8 were assigned their Composer computer projects that you will be working on in computer class (or home too!) Good luck.  Be creative!

HOMEWORK:

Grade 4: Musicians from the Garden State worksheet

Grade 5: Sign Language worksheet

Congratulations again on a wonderful show!

Peace,

Mrs. Warga
